One of the largest solar parks in the Czech Republic has changed hands. As of November this year, the Czech investment group Jufa is the new owner of the Brno Tuřany photovoltaic power plant, which has an installed capacity of almost 22 Megawatt (MW). Jufa has a transparent structure and is under the stewardship of its two investors, Jan Chrenko and Jiří Fast.
The acquisition of the solar park, which is situated next to Brno Airport, was managed on behalf of Jufa by Jan Chrenko. He evaluated the purchase as follows: “The purchase of one of the largest solar power plants in the Czech Republic has made Jufa the third largest owner of photovoltaic power plants in the country. We succeeded against competition from ten other interested parties, including international infrastructure funds, in particular due to our transparent ownership structure and our experience with the acquisition of solar power plants.”
Brno Tuřany photovoltaic power plant, which is the fourth largest solar park in the Czech Republic, consists of three parts, which are operated by BS Park I s. r. o., BS Park II s. r. o. and BS Park III s. r. o. The total installed capacity of the power plant is almost 22 MW. The power plant is composed of 90,000 panels and was commissioned in 2009 and 2010. “Brno Airport was a pioneer when it came to bringing together an airport with a solar power plant. The production of clean energy helps the airport to increase its sustainability and provides energy even in cases of grid outages or blackouts. Today, similar projects utilizing solar power plants can be found at airports in Germany, India and the USA. I believe that we have gained a high-quality partner in Jufa, who, thanks to their experience in the field of renewable resources, will help us develop the project further,” said Jiří Filip, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Letiště Brno a.s.
The sale of the solar power plant near Brno Airport was conducted by the audit firm Deloitte. “Our team provided the shareholders of the Brno Tuřany photovoltaic power plant with comprehensive consultancy services in relation to its sale. The new owner, investment group Jufa, under the management of Jan Chrenko, prevailed over competition from ten other interested parties, in part due to their highly professional approach and detailed knowledge of the field of solar energy in the Czech Republic”, said Josef Kotrba, president of the Czech branch of Deloitte, when evaluating the process of the sale of the solar power plant.
Jufa, a Czech investment group, is one of the fastest growing owners of solar power plants in the Czech Republic. Its main operational focus is on energy generation – specifically through renewable sources of energy, and in particular through photovoltaic power plants. With more than ten years of experience in the solar energy utilization field, the company is well placed to apply its knowledge in terms of development, construction, manufacturing optimization and project acquisitions. Jufa s.r.o. currently owns 20 solar power plants with a total installed capacity of 52 MW.
“The goal of Jufa s.r.o. is to further strengthen its presence on the Czech photovoltaic market through acquisitions. Our ownership structure is completely transparent, and profits are re-invested directly in the Czech Republic. Our vision is to gradually develop renewable resources, which we perceive as a clean source of energy generation and a replacement for fossil fuels”, said Jiří Fast, co-owner of Jufa.
